by Geoff Hopkins

It’s not difficult to imagine what the effects of wrinkle cream is. They are supposed to remove wrinkles. But do they really do this? Have there ever been comparative tests ran on this subject? Everybody’s skin is different, and the effects of wrinkle cream, being used on a person, tend to only become visible after a long period of time. So it’s not so easy to find out which cream is the best for you, which one does what it promises to do, and which ones are merely false advertising.

It is best, in this authors opinion, to visit a beauty salon, if you are serious about skin care. There are several products, and they all contain different active ingredients. Some of these ingredients have been proven to work, other are dodgy at best, and even then, not all products contain the same amount and combination of ingredients. A trained professional might be able to inform you best as to the effects of wrinkle cream, or other anti aging skin care products in general, on your skin type. It depends on which type of skin you have, your age, previous products you might have used.

Below is a list of several active ingredients that are commonly used in wrinkle creams:

retinol: This is a vitamin A compound. It has been used the most, and has been around the longest, and should work. It’s less potent than some of the other products, however, and you should take care not to use it when you are pregnant, or may become pregnant soon, because this product increases the chance of birth defects.

Hydroxy acids: Exfoliants that are used to remove the upper layer of dead skin for growth of smooth new skin. Must be used along with a sunscreen if you are exposed to sun long periods of time due to vulnerability of your skin without the top layer.

Coenzyme Q10: This is a nutrient that helps regulate energy production in cells. This means that the cells will be more prone to self-repair. There don’t seen to be any side-effects to using this product, and it has been proven to work, but it may be less potent than other anti aging skin care solutions.

Copper peptides: Copper residing in every human cell, combines with a protein peptide to help repair damaged skin.

Kinetin: It is known to help plants grow but besides that it is not clear how it works on human skin. It is believed that it stimulates the production of collagen by retaining skin moisture. This product is still relatively new.

Tea extracts: Tried and proved old ingredient which is most commonly used in anti aging creams. It is known to be completely safe to use.

Always use any product in moderation. Do not overload your skin with different products and ingredients.
