Dieting is big business in the United States, as thousands of authors try to cash in on America’s obesity epidemic. And an epidemic it is, with two out of every five deaths attributable to excess weight. Small wonder, then, that so many millions of people are constantly looking for a way to shed excess pounds.

Unfortunately, the technique that most people use for weight loss also happens to be the least effective, and extremely dangerous. This is the technique of simply depriving yourself of food, eating little or nothing each day. But while you might think this would be a sure path to weight loss, in truth, the body will fight this method. As your body feels it is about to starve, it will not burn fat first, but muscle tissue. Many people who fail at the ‘Starvation diet’ try another shortcut: gastric bypass surgery or stomach bands. However, any form of surgery can be risky and is quite expensive; it should be used only as a last resort. Specifically, only people who cannot lose weight because of some medical condition should consider bypass surgery.

So if you should not use the starvation method or gastric surgery, what should you do? The best weight loss plan is one that incorporates a calorie burning plan. It turns out that weight problems in most people are caused by eating too much fat, a metabolism rate that is too high, not burning enough calories. By adopting a calorie burning diet, you correct all of these deficiencies. A good program guides you in eating healthy foods, increasing your metabolism, and combines this all with an effective exercise program.

There are many different calorie burning diet plans out there; and when it comes to a health risk like being overweight, you should not put off starting even one day! The sooner you start, the sooner you will be slimmer and healthier.
